We dig the site and pour the concrete — one crew, one contractor.

Excavation and concreting for builders and owner-builders across Melbourne's western growth corridor, from the first site cut through to a screeded, cured slab.

Site cross-section: existing surface, design cut and slab on ground A line drawing showing the original ground surface, a battered excavation down to a level pad, and a concrete slab sitting on the finished pad above a datum line. EXISTING SURFACE SLAB ON GROUND BATTER COMPACTED PAD DATUM

Cut to levelPour to plan

Both trades, one contractor

The crew that cuts the pad is the crew that forms and pours it. No handover gap between the excavator leaving and the concreter arriving, and no arguing over whose levels were wrong.

Ground we know

Melbourne's west is reactive clay over basalt. Floaters, rock shelves and wet-weather clay all change what a cut costs — we price for the ground that's actually there.

Set out to the drawings

Levels, falls and set-out taken straight off the engineering and siting plans, so slab heights, driveway grades and drainage falls match what was approved.

What we do

Earthworks and concreting, start to finish

Residential and light commercial work across the western suburbs — new-estate lots, sheds, extensions and hardstand.

Excavation

Bulk excavation & site cuts

Cutting and benching new-estate lots to the design level, including batters, spoil handling and a pad left clean and true for the next trade.

Excavation

Footings, trenching & service runs

Strip and pad footings dug to the engineer's depth, plus trenching for stormwater, sewer, water and conduit ahead of the pour.

Concreting

Slabs for houses, sheds & garages

Formwork, crushed rock, vapour barrier, mesh and bar, then a placed and finished slab — waffle pod or raft, to the slab designer's detail.

Concreting

Driveways & crossovers

Driveways graded to drain away from the building, and vehicle crossovers formed and poured to the local council's standard drawing.

How a slab gets built

Five layers between raw ground and a finished floor

Each stage has to be right before the next one goes on top of it. This is the order we work in, and the order we quote in — so you can see exactly what you are paying for at every step.

  1. 01

    Strip and set out

Topsoil and vegetation stripped and stockpiled, boundaries and building envelope set out against the siting plan.

  2. 02

    Cut to design level

Bulk excavation down to the finished pad level, batters formed, rock and surplus clay loaded out.

  3. 03

    Trench and compact

Footings and service trenches dug, then the subgrade trimmed and compacted so nothing settles under the slab later.

  4. 04

    Rock, membrane and steel

Crushed rock spread and levelled, vapour barrier laid and taped, mesh and reinforcing bar placed on bar chairs ready for inspection.

  5. 05

    Pour, finish and cure

Concrete placed, screeded and finished to the specified surface, then cured and protected before the frame goes up.

Who we are

A Victorian earthworks and concreting company

Brothers Excavation and Concreting Pty Ltd is an Australian registered company based in the Plumpton and Rockbank area, on the edge of Melbourne's fastest-growing residential corridor.

We work for builders who need a pad ready on a date, and for owner-builders who need someone to explain what the engineer's drawings actually require on the ground. Either way the scope is written down before anything starts, and the quote is priced against the site as it is — not as a standard lot.

Send us the plans and the lot address.

Engineering drawings, a siting plan or even a rough sketch is enough for us to price the cut and the pour.
